SIL Accommodation Questions

Yes, Supported Independent Living needs to be funded in your plan before you can move into a SIL home. SIL funding is its own line item, assessed on your support needs around the home. If you're not sure whether you have it, or you believe you need it and don't, we can explain what's involved in requesting it and what evidence the NDIA looks for.
Faster than the months-long wait most people brace for, because we have current vacancies rather than a waiting list. Realistically, the process still takes a few weeks: visiting the home, meeting housemates and staff, agreeing support arrangements and settling the paperwork. Rushing the fit helps nobody. Tell us your circumstances and we'll give you an honest timeline rather than a sales pitch.
Please do, more than once if it helps. A home has to feel right, and no brochure or phone call replaces standing in the kitchen and meeting the people you'd share it with. Bring family or your support coordinator along. We'd rather you take your time and be sure than move quickly and feel unsettled, so there's never pressure attached to a visit.
Our homes are across the Hawkesbury and Western Sydney region, which keeps residents close to local shops, transport and familiar communities. We don't publish exact addresses online out of respect for the privacy of the people already living there. Tell us your preferred area and we'll let you know what's currently available nearby and arrange a visit to anything that suits.
Yes. You have the right to change SIL providers at any time, and people do it more often than you might think, usually because the fit or the support hasn't lived up to the promise. We'll guide you through the steps: notice periods, funding arrangements and the practical side of moving. Your supports keep running throughout, and we handle the coordination between providers.
As involved as the participant wants them to be, which for most people means very. Choosing where to live is a big decision, and families often carry knowledge about routines, preferences and history that makes the support plan better. We include family in visits, planning meetings and updates at whatever level suits, and we're equally comfortable when a participant prefers to decide alone.
Support levels flex as life does. We review how things are going regularly, and if you need more help, or less, the arrangement adjusts rather than you having to move out or start over. Significant changes sometimes need a plan review with the NDIA, and we'll help prepare the evidence for that. The aim is a home you can stay settled in long term.
